Los orígenes del teatro socialista en Portugal: O Capital (1895), de Ernesto da Silva
Abstract
Em 1895 Ernesto da Silva, militante socialista e compositor tipógrafo, estreia no Teatro do Príncipe Real de Lisboa, O Capital. O drama enquadra-se dentro de um projeto de dinamização do teatro militante e de construção de uma dramaturgia destinada à educação dos operários, sem esquecer a componente lúdica. Foi a primeira obra “socialista” no seu género, iniciadora de uma tendência
interrompida pela prematura morte do autor em 1903. Este artigo visa resgatar o texto do esquecimento, descrevendo-o dentro da estética literária dominante e do desenvolvimento do teatro no Partido Socialista Português.
