Abstract

Es conocida la estrecha vinculación de Galicia con el reino de Portugal anterior a su independencia y a lo largo de toda la Edad Media. Muchos son los elementos que hicieron que existiera una mayor conexión: cercanía geográfica, pasado común hasta el siglo XII, misma lengua, pertenencia a una misma jurisdicción eclesiástica, relaciones comerciales, convivencia entre sus habitantes y momentos de enfrentamiento y rivalidad. Buena muestra de esta singular vinculación son los cuantiosos documentos que existen en archivos portugueses y españoles referente a estas relaciones durante este tiempo.
