Crossing the border in troubled times. Spanish refugees in Portugal during the 1930s
Abstract
Based on a comparative perspective, this article intends to analyze the presence of Spanish refugees in Portugal during the 1930s. It seeks to understand the differences and similarities that characterized the various moments and how the Salazar's regime reacted to each of them, taking into account the Iberian context of the period in question, which was highly troubled and marked by several changes in relations between countries, which influenced the way refugees were perceived in Portugal.
