Abstract

The research reports on the experiences and meanings of the teaching internship in the Scientific Work Methodology course, offered in the undergraduate programs of Accounting Sciences and Food Engineering at the Federal University of Paraíba (UFPB), and its relevance in the training of teachers in the Graduate Program in Information Science. This is a descriptive, qualitative study conducted between August and December 2023, with data collected through participant observation and experience reports. It discusses the mediation of information and pedagogy in the internship, engaging with authors such as Gomes (2020), Rabello (2023), among others. The study highlights that the teaching internship significantly contributes to the training of graduate students in Information Science, enabling them to practice higher education teaching under faculty supervision. It acknowledges the challenges of teaching in higher education, especially in undergraduate programs, and emphasizes the importance of the teaching internship as a fundamental space for teacher training in the Graduate Program in Information Science and for entry into higher education teaching.
