Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  • The originals should be sent to prisma.com@letras.up.pt, and also a brief CV of each author, that does not exceed 300 characters.

  • The manuscript is original and unpublished and is not under review or for publication by another journal. Otherwise, it should be justified in "Comments to the Editor".

  • The text follows the style standards and bibliographic requirements described in Authors Guidelines in the section About the Journal.

  • The published articles reflect only the positions of the individual authors, and therefore do not bind PRISMA.COM. The authors will retain the intellectual property of their writings, and accept their publication in PRISMA.COM.

  • In case of submission to a peer-reviewed section (e.g. articles), the instructions available under Ensure the Peer Blind Review were followed.

  • Whatever the decision of the Scientific Committee of Prisma.Com on the article under consideration, the author (s) will be notified.

  • Authors whose submitted work includes any material requiring third-party authorization, will be responsible for obtaining a written authorization for publication and for any costs that might arise from such an authorization. Credits must be provided for each image.

  • Submission of articles and their processing are free of cost to authors.

Author Guidelines

Editorial guidelines

Text and images: texts must be sent in Word or RTF format, in double space, font of 12pt and use italics instead of underlining (except URL addresses).

Images and tables should be inserted in the text, not at the end of the document as attachments, and must have sufficient quality for digital reproduction. The images should preferably be in JPG format and the individual files should be sent separately.

Footnotes: should be avoided as much as possible but, if they exist, will have an automatic numbering.

Size: the size of the articles, except exceptional cases, should be between 15,000 and 60,000 characters, and the reviews between 2,000 and 10,000 characters.

Language: articles in Portuguese, Spanish, French or English are accepted.

First page: should include the title (in the original language and in English), the name (s) of the author (s), their institutional affiliations, if any, and the e-mail address.

Second page: should include a summary in the original language and in English, which should not exceed 900 characters, as well as a list of a maximum of four keywords. If the original language is English, Prisma.Com assumes responsibility for translating the second abstract into Portuguese.

References and citations: references will fundamentally follow the APA 6th rules, indicating in the course of the text, in parentheses, the author's surname, the year and pages of the edition consulted. The mention of the text and year of the original edition will appear at the end, in the reference area.
