Editorial Iconography as a market niche for the Librarian

Abstract

The research analyzes the iconographic publishing market, as well as the practices relevant to librarians working in this field. The work routine of the niche is also observed in order to verify the existence of a symbiotic relationship with Librarianship. With this, it is proposed as a main objective to investigate how editorial iconography is established to the librarian's profile, highlighting, in turn, the contributions of librarianship praxis to the development of the iconographic market. The study has an exploratory character, a quantitative-qualitative approach and the procedures adopted were the bibliographic research and the application of a survey. The research presented the dynamics belonging to the sphere of editorial iconography and identified congruence with the activities equivalent to the practices developed by the librarian's know-how. Therefore, it is concluded that there is a market niche prone to librarianship based on their skills acquired by training as an information professional, which positively collaborates with the iconographic field.

Doctorate in Information and Communication Sciences- Institut des Communications et des Media (ICM)- Université Stendhal-Grenoble-3-France (1999). Master's in Information Science from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (1989). Post-Doctorate in Philosophy-Cognitive Treatment of Information-Laboratoire de l?Analyse Cognitive de l?Information (LANCI)- Université du Quebec à Montreal- (2006). Post-Doctoral Internship at the Institute of Applied Linguistics (IULA) at the Universidad Pompeu Fabra- Barcelona. Post-Doctoral Internship in Law and Genome at the Interuniversity Chair of Derecho y Genome Humano - University of Deusto - Basque Country (2013). Collaborator of the Graduate Program in Information Science at the Federal University of Paraíba. Former Professor Professional Master's Degree in Public Policy and Higher Education Management (POLEDUC) and the Postgraduate Program in Information Science at Paulista State Universities Júlio de Mesquita Filho. Together with Prof. Ana Maria Sá, was the creator and put into practice PROLER as its first coordinator. She also conceived and put into practice the Bibliotherapy project in the Oncology Block of Hospital Albert Sabin and in the Casa da Criança. Together with Prof. Juliana Buse, she created the UFC Scientific Journals Portal Project. She is a member of the Electronic Information Service (SEI)-UFC Steering Committee. He has published books and articles in the field of Information Science and Librarianship. It guides graduate students. Areas of Information Science and Librarianship, public library in university, school and specialized experiences.
