Transition to Retirement
Representations, Projects, and Expectations of a sample of workers of the University of Porto
Abstract
Age management, as a strategic approach to the age diversity of the workforce, involves recognising and managing the different needs, capacities and expectations of workers, as well as the particularities that mark each stage of the life cycle. We carried out a survey of workers at the University of Porto, which made it possible to identify trends and to understand how these workers, particularly those at the end of their careers, perceive the event of the transition to retirement. The study also provided relevant information on the opportunities for organisations to support and involve their employees in the transition to retirement.
