Marrabenta: as dinâmicas históricas e socioculturais no contexto do seu surgimento
Abstract
This article approaches the dimension of marrabenta as musical genre which was turned into a symbol of the mozambican cultural identity, since the 1960’s. In responde to several questions raised in the public discussion about this issue, which have increased considerably at the turning point of the 2000 years to 2010 throughout the national mass media, ARPAC – Institute for
Social and Cultural Research of Mozambique, carried out, between 2011 and 2014, a reserach aiming to contribute on the debate based on a ethnomusicological perspective, privileging three axes for analysis: origin, authenticity and representativity. To reach this goal, the research focused on the historical context end the social dynamics underlying this musical genre considered as genuinly mozambican.
