Absolutismo, soberania popular e revolução: Robert Filmer contra John Milton

Resumo

The aim of this research is to give voice to the arguments undertaken by Robert Filmer against the texts published by John Milton immediately after the execution of Charles I. Thus, to refute the pamphlets The tenure of kings and magistrates (1649) and A defence of the people of England (1651), Filmer wrote the opuscule Observations on Milton against Salmasius and published in 1652. In turn, the central aspects of this clash can be synthesized by the concepts: king, people and revolution.
